MH lighting will be nicer for SPS set-up as you get the shimmering effect which LEDs cannot give.

Just my opinion.

LED will give the shimmering effect like MH as it is a point source lighting together with other benefit like low heat output and almost no replacement for lamp as the working life is very long. the only concern is whether LED will produce enough PAR for SPS? i always feel it is dimmer than MH.

but again, my eyes are not a par-meter, might be wrong. good choice of equipment. what is your skimmer. the skimmer is one of the most important piece of equipment to maintain a low nutrient environment for SPS. =)

I test run this skimmer once and saw a lot of bubbles coming out so i suppose it will work well on my small tank... only problem is you have to manually empty the cup every time it become full..

Was also wondering like you if the LED work produces same or simalar output as a MH or not ??, so i am going to borrow the PAR metter from my friend this week to measure the output... so Stay tune guys for the update on this.....

the H&S is a good choice needlewheel. tested and proven stuff... no worries. yup will track your results for the LED par value. nothing beat the review from the reefer himself and not just posted information on webby.

Just got the light meter from my friend today..cant wait to test it out on the lighting... finally the result is out.. :eyebrow:

This is the lux meter which i am talking about.. and first of all i use it to measure the output for my 2 tube 2ft T5 HO with ATI White tube..

for a accurate measurement of the lighting from the same distant, the meter is place away about 2 ft from the lighting source inside of the tank .. Just nice since my tank is not fill up yet..

reading under 60% of white light..

And now i adjust it up to 80% ...

And finally the result we are awaiting for... lighting at 100% !

The reading is to a scale of 10X and should be about 2000 Lux in total which is about the same as what a 200W MH produced !!

I saw in another forum AR that the solaris I series only produces about 1700 lux total.. Hopefully this is a better equipment

cycling all my live rocks inside a foam box for a few week now, just run it with a wave maker , light for 4 hour a day.. what did you guy do to cycle all your live rocks ?

Yes, the nanobox is brand new..but i havent kick start it yet cos my piping is not finish.. sure, you may drop by to have a look oe day..

whereas for the price, you may check out aquarmarin or reefdepot website which state all the price list on their site.. hope it helps..
