Jim

quite a number of your zoas seemed to be half opened......

a case of bad timing when photos are taken?

yup, always by the time I m really free to do all these photo taking (aka after my kids ZZ), half of the white LEDS have gone off, so some will start closing.... Only during the morning when full blast of all the LEDs, they are all open, but I will be rushing to the office. No time to take photos.

Timing for light:

7am: Blue LED on

7.15am: Half of the White LED on

7.30am: All White LED on

11.30am: Half White LED off

12.00pm: All White LED off, only Blue LED on.

6.00pm: Half White LED on

6.30pm: All White LED on

10.00pm: Half White LED off

10.30pm: All White LED off

11.15pm: Blue LED off.

hi bro, just my 2 cents concerning your light timing... since you are out at work during day, no point setting the lights to turn on as there is nobody around to see anyway.

why not set to something like this:

4pm : blue led on

5pm : half white led on

5.30pm : all white led on

10pm: half white led off

10.30 all white led off

11/11.30 : blue led off

this way, your tank wunt heat up during the day. even though it is led, heat is still generated. also u save power. and u will get to view corals fully open when u return home n can take better photos. also with most of your corals soft corals, no need so much light. 5 hrs is sufficient.

just my thoughts

:)

agree with him , ur long photoperiod may harm corals , i have experience first hand before :phone:

i think 7hrs a day would be the best!

Yup, normally the bigger zoa rocks will take longer to open up. But the bigger rocks got more varieties of zoas...

Found my blotchy anthias having ich..... have been hiding in the rocks for at least 1.5 weeks and not coming out even feeding time....

Octozin for 2 separate 3 days dosage, today finally see it coming out for a while, but the white spots so much until like chicken pox!!! Sigh... how to save him.............

As long it's feeding, it stands a chance of fighting it.. That said, Anthias is suppose to be quite resistent to Ich.

It's not eating from what I see. Not coming out even feeding time. I m dosing Zooplankton more just for him, hoping something will flow past him n he can feed on it.....

i m feeding Henry Gourmet for very long liao.... the past 1.5 weeks, he also not interested!!!! Tats y i m mentally prepared. Will just continue with Octozin for the 3rd time. If still no improvement, provided still alive, I will try the other method, to isolate it with lowered Sg.

The rest of the fishes are ok, all eating like greedy pigs....

Blotchy did not wait for my return.... by the time I arrive hm, he's gone, with the mouth wide open but no signs of white spots on it's body. Can see it was trying to grasp for air. The parasite probably had attacked it's gills....it came out in the morning probably to let me see it the last time, sob.

Activated charcoal is back into the filter media, will have to do a 50% WC this saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed tat the others have e immunity to fight against the parasite.

dun mind me being frank...yr tank is kinda narrow to house these fishes...i can c you have a taste for nice fishes...flame wrasse, blochie, etc...they need space and thick sand bed to burrow for yr flame wrasse...otherwise, everytime u spend $$$...end up feeling sad...why dun just keep some simple nano fishes...and defer your desire for colourful and not-so-common fishes for the time being...
