Help to catch fish

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Anyone know how to catch a falco hawk fish without disturbing all the live rocks and corals. Any fish trap to recommend and where to get it.

:thanks:

Hmm, im not sure if catching a hawkfish is possible. But i do tore up my whole live rock just to get all my damsel out.

Why don't u try catching him during feeding time. Or place the fish food inside the net.

Not sure if a falco hawk will fall for this, but try feeding only inside a betta box for a few days. Once they get brave enough, it might venture into the betta box during feeding time, and you can try and slide the door down shut.

This method works for me as well. You may wish to have a go for this.

No experience with a hawk, but i did manage to catch my damsel out using this trick. It is almost 100% guaranteed to work, as shared to me by a fellow reefer, HOWEVER, bear in mind that this technique is VERY VERY stressful to other fishes in ur tank. But if they are healthy to begin with, they will quickly recover =)

Start by turning off all the lights in ur house to stimulate sleeping time. Identify where ur fish sleeps, then prepare to catch it. By placing ur net near the sleeping fish (not directly infront of it, otherwise u will scare it and it will hide), faster turn on the aquarium lights to temporarily stun the fishes. Ur fish will be disorientated for awhile, and this is a very good time to catch it. if its in a rock, u can gently use a stick (i use satay stick) to coax it out of the rock into open water, and faster scoop the fish out, and turn off the lights to prevent any more stress to other fishes.

I did this on my damsel and its enjoying its life in my sump. I cant believe i wasted $5 on the damn damselfish -.- Hope this method helps u, it almost always works, but try to do it as a last resort. very stressful
