bro that looks like a slick of protein at the surface.. normally should clear up if u have overflow.

if u dun have then u have to siphon

if u have overflow then mayb your water flow is forcing a build up, adjust your wavemakers accordingly

hmm if water flow is the problem...i tink i noe y...my wavemakers all r blowing the water away frm my overflow...is tat a possible reason? though i do haf a hydor flo...bt is it harmful? cos the onli potential side effect i can tink of is the proteins will block some lights...

bro! got very bad effect... the slick of protein will inhibit the proper exchange of gases between the tank surface water and the air..

although with overflow n skimmer the aeration of the water shld already be good, its always better to be safe...more avenues to discharge harmful gases building up in water n healthy intake of oxygen !

if possible u shld direct your return flow away from your overflow and your wave makers towards the overflow.

hope this helps

thks bro...guess gotta crack my brains again hmm have to reposition my wavemakers...initially i still tot bcos bcos my wavemakers are strong enugh to create a current tats strong enough to circulate around the whole tank in a circular direction cos the tank is small...

den is there any possibilty tat it is due to my water level too high? cos my water level is way above my overflow...though the left over foods are able to get sucked into the overflow even if the water level is much higher than the overflow...

You can try this product... The JBJ's surface skimmer... Or can just DIY cut the name card box ...

post-14611-1230087685.jpg

1ft cube with IOS [the low tech tank]

1. JBJ C-breeze to keep temp hovering around 27-28'C

2. LED clip on - 120 bulbs

-skimmer-less-

My 3 humble equipments that keeps my tank running... [DRIED OUT]

1. The RSM itself of course 2.My NEW Deltec MCE-300 Skimmer 3. My trusty Arctica Chiller

Tank parameters:

Temperature maintained at 25.3'C to 24.7'C

No3: 10ppm(b4 the use of the deltec skimmer)

No3: 5ppm (after use of the skimmer)

Others? too lazy to measure...LOL

Camera- EOS 50D

Sometimes this protein slick is because your skimmer needed cleaning.I used to have that then after i cleaned my skimmer cup cause full of gunk the thing starts to disappear.
