Hi there, would like to know what kinda lightings do i need to have for FOWLR setup? Do I need day light and night light? What is the recommended duration for the lights to be on??

My setup is 2.5x2.5x2.5. My current lighting is a 2 ft PL light and I only on them between 7pm to 7am. Everything is fine though...

But would like some advise..

hi bro, for FOWLR, in my opinion is no need but you do want to see your fishes and maybe boost the coraline algae....hence it will be good to put some light. For lighting, you can looking out for those marine bulbs and choose those bulbs that will enhance your fishes' colour...blue is one of the colour....just my opinion

Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow

Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector

Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262

FR : 2 X Deltec 509 & powered by AB2000

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

Ozonizer : Sander C50

UV : Corallife 6x

I'm using just 2x30W FL(Arcadia tubes) for my 4ft FOWLR setup.

I just leave my lights on for 6.5hrs for the actinic and 5.5hrs for the white, I have 1 white tube and 1 actinic that simulates dusk and dawn. It comes on 30mins before the white tube comes on and goes off 30mins after the white tube goes off.
