think the past problem with rd is their shaft. The newer version has titanium shaft and the higher model has brushless shaft(no shaft replacement to my limited knowledge).....just my general understanding....you can search more on the details.....anyway, i will support bro red devils' comment on the after sales support for rd pumps. just imagine you are getting a powerful rd pump to support yr tank and if it fails.....not easy to get one to replacement if no support.....just my 2 cents worth comment, personal opinion.

Thanks for your comments and I agree with you that a pump running for 2+ years may need to be re-built and checking with reef depot the spare parts will cost about $350.

think bro planet's rd pumps are higher end models which dont have much shaft issue. if there is support, i think it is still a good buy. Compare the orginal price vs buying secondhand and rebuild cost. you have to weigh the pros and cons to determine. Buying second hand always contain risk and you have to consider whether you are willing to accept the risk. Had seen bro planet's setup and believe he is a trustworthy guy as his pumps are still running if i am not wrong. All the best. : )
