SRC Member Firestarter Posted December 14, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted December 14, 2008 I use tap water. Recently, I've seen ppl new to the hobby asking about using tap water. It is not true that you cannot use tap water. Yes, DI/RO water will be a better choice, but why are ppl quick to state that tap water is strictly disallowed, making 'newbies' confused? Coz tap water contains silicate which is a source for algae bloom and chlorine which is toxic to fishes and corals, dude. SAF dun even allow drinking from the tap, what more pouring into yr tank. mansiz
Ya, during my BMT in 2004 I also drank water from tap, even water drank during water parade are collected from taps. Maybe now they changed the policy. That sounds so fortunate for the youngsters nowadays.
