Users of Grotech ABC and calcium reactors

I used to be manually dosing Grotech ABC and M daily manually, and this kept my calcium at a very constant level.

I'm only just firing up my CR, and fine tuning it.

Question is, those of you who are using CRs, do you still dose Grotech ABC and M for the trace minerals in them? Or is there no longer any need for me to be dosing anything else?

If I still do need to dose trace, would anyone be able to recommend something good to use?

Hi bro, I'm using CR, and dosing Grotech ABC.

CR only supply carbonate hardness and Ca. Does not supply all the trace elements provided by ABC. I'm getting gd results using just ABC and CR.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

I was hoping you would answer this question :D I actually heard you were only using ABC, guess that was incorrect.

No need to use M then? What about the dosage of ABC, did you have to adjust it? I presume you're still using a dosing pump?

I'm using ABC plus CR. ABC provides all the nec major and trace elements. CR maintains the KH and Ca level of my sps tank.

For M, I guess u're refering to VitM? For VitM, I dose manually. ABC are dosed via dosing pumps.

I tink the M he's referring to is Grotech VitM (Vit plus amino acids).

You're right, Grotech A already contains Mg, so dun need to add additional Mg.

Yup yup, I was referring to Grotech ABC and VitM.

So despite using a CR, dosing all of this is still necessary. Presume your dosage is as recommended, and not adjusted to allow for the CR right?

Yup, despite using CR, dosing ABC is still necessary as I've mentioned, CR only maintains KH and Ca. CR media does not release all essential elements required by our corals. ABC provides all these essential major n minor trace elements.

I started off following the dosage. Had been advise by John to adjust according to tank requirement. As a "rough gauge", the diff colours of the 3 bottles symbolises the improvement to corresponding colouration of the sps (u can counter check this by looking at the elements provided by each bottle, do a search online and it does shows that it'll improve the corresponding colours of the bottle). I've since adjusted to dose more A and C, leaving B following the dosage. Been getting good colouration on my sps so far.

Cheers!
