But they are false perculas.

Do these juvenile clowns need any special care? I am intending to get a pair for my 15G tank. Is it advisable to add them both together at the same time?

Oh and what is that in the middle of ur pic? the round thing? and wat is the white one on top

If the white band for the percula or ocellaris clowns are fully developed, they don't need any special care different from adult clowns. It is good to add them both at the same time, but if they are of the same size, they will fight for a longer time to establish dominance than if there is an obvious size difference.

HI,

clownfish can change their ######. If you are adding a pair, make sure 1 is at least half the size bigger than the other. The bigger one will change ###### to become a male while the smaller one will become a female if it is a male previously. ALL Clownfish are HOMO!

Wei,

Female clowns do not change back to male, no matter how big the other female is. They will fight to the death. It's one way! After you lose the balls, you can't get it back. The bigger one is female and smaller one is male.

Maybe you got mixed up with Anthias, they can switch back and forth.

Tanzy's right wei, the bigger one is female & all the other smaller ones will be male(if u have more than 2 that is)

blue terror, there are 3 ways of pairing clowns(but i only remember 2 of them). u can buy a group of 6 & let them naturally do their stuff, or u can force pair them by getting a big one & a smaller one(at the same time or at different times). the problem with the force method is that it may not work- they may not accept each other cause of territorial rights(usually common in the other species of clowns). Although i find that buying 2 fishes together at the same time from the LFS tank is fine. adding another later is asking for fin tearing quarrels. i have tried this with common clowns & skunk clowns. My previous tomato wouldn't accept any other clown in the same tank & stayed a batchelor.

The pic u saw of hong's was a mushroom & the white coral skeleton.

Ok i bought 2 false perc juvenile clowns. One of them is slightly larger.

Now a day later, i only find one in my tank. I still saw both of them this morning. I can't even find the body!

And this remaining clown keeps swimming around at the surface. Is he still adjusting to the environment or is this something abnormal?

Sounds like something's wrong with the water or gaseous exchange. Test the water for ammonia, nitrite and pH.

HELP!

My last clown has gone missing!!!!

There must be some predator in my tank. I saw a little crab, is he the murderer?!

i doubt the little crab is the murderer... there should be other signs that is causing the deaths... wat is the water parameters?? u quoted that the water conditions seems ok.. what u mean.. what are the readings?

Are they even dead?!?! I can't even find the bodies. Don't tell me the clean up crew is so efficient. I know i have a bristle worm about 15cm. And a couple of crabs. :(

Salinity 1.022-1.023

Ammonia, Nitrites, Nitrates are 0. pH around 8.3.

Water condition is excellent except for those Tiny particles suspended in the water...I am using a sponge to try filter them out in my HOB filter.

Previously using one cartridge that came with my HOB filter. It has activated carbon in it. Tank is a 2ft 15 gallon. :(
