Haha i'm everywhere at the moment

For me, i believe that you should go for the biggest surface area you can afford and the biggest area is probably your tank.

However, there have been stories of DSBs crashing hence people generally do not like to have it in the main tank as it is difficult to remove if it crashes. Hence DSBs in sumps or remote DSBs are favoured as they can easily removed without upsetting your main tank.

Normally a small tank or even a bucket is sufficient for medium sized tanks.

hmm, if thts the case, a mobile DSB wld be a great idea! =)

ic, so in what case the tank gets crash/upset coz of DSB?

is there some sort of special bacteria required to cultivate DSB effectiveness?

In the case where the DSB clumps together and water is not able to diffuse into the deeper regions thus leading to the high production of HSO3 and when the HSO3 that is created in the DSB escapes due to burrowing critters.

To find out more you should go to the link provided in the thread where you saw this. There's a huge discussion on the usefulness and the non-usefulness of mobile DSBs. B)

Oh no special bacteria needed. Just time to cultivate them. Apparently they are naturally occuring in our tanks. They are in your liverocks etc.
