convert reef to fowlr

Recommended Posts

hi, to confirm to reef to FOWLR, i think just sell off all your corals. Can reduce your light requirement and increase your water temperature to say 28 to 29 or even 30. Other supplement equipment such as CR, etc can also be removed.....think should be rather straight forward....

anyway, this is my opinion and can be wrong. Can wait for better advices from snr reefer. : )

To convert from a reef to FOWLR setup, you can remove equipment that a FOWLR does not necessary require.

Such equipment would be Chiller, Calcium reactor, and also downgrading your lights.

However, you will still require a good skimmer.

tks bros!

getting sian with reef, and getting broke! can't keep up with maintenance of chemicals and heart pain to see all my corals die! so gonna switch to fowlr for easier upkeep. can't sell off my corals too as they are in various state of atrophy. thinking of adding some predatory fishes like frogfish and lionfish...

Hi Bro,

I was in your shoes a few months back... come to think of it... It is just as rewarding keeping angelfish in replacement of corals, minus off all the extra maintenance

yeah. that's my consolation, minus all the work (and $$$) , still get to enjoy hobby. aiming frog fish first! hahah, wouldn't it be cool if it eats my chromis or damsel first hyuk hyuk

Buying live fishes for your frog fish/ lionfish can also be expensive since you are looking at cutting down cost, not to mention the cruelty of feeding them alive to the predators.

to each his own. what kind of fishes and where do i get such foods for predatory fishes like frog fish and lion fish?

It advice to feed them with marine live bait such as damsel, false clown but a bit cruel lor  .

They are mostly available at any LFS.
