bristle worms growing on zoas

i tink i saw some feather duster worms on my zoa which is not opening well...is it harmful? how do i get rid of them? they are transclucent rite?

those are harmless.... you can break off the tube which they host on but be careful as u may injure the zoa as well.

Bristle worm is different from feather dusters. The former is a pest while the later is harmless. For the former, you can consider running the LR through fresh water to dislodge the bristle worm. Just long enough to get the worm out but not too long to harm your Zoa.

Banded Coral Shrimps and Royal Dottybacks are said to be good at hunting bristle worms but I've not notice my BCS hunting any worms.

haha found out that those are not worms...they are Aiptasia...i have oreadi threw the 2 affected frags away....there's another 1 affected bt it doesnt seem to affect the frag at all so i simply ignore...hopefully it doesnt multiply fast...

for aiptasia, just inject a dose of kalk into them and they should die off... other more organic ways suggest injecting with lemon juice to kill them. they tend to grow fast so if you see your's getting out of control, better act soon.

however i dunno if they will affect zoa frags. i haven't seen mine do anything to my zoas before.
