a bit of my refigium...I notice that with just the actinic on , my culerpa webbiana grows really well without strong light on. No more algae blooms and no cyno that usually grows on them with white light on. My culerpa is thriving well now and new shoots are sprouting out.... :yeah: Always had a problem growing these but finally suceeded.... :yeah:

here is the tubing that drains the excess gunk....saw the kopi-0 in the cup? It's ready to drink just add sugar....yuck!

that's ingenious.. the tubing from skimmer to the cup.. save effort remove the cup. maybe longer tubing, later the tube bobo "shooter" anyhow aim??

hey bwilly , the tube saves me some time and it's great :yeah: haven't seen a skimmer with that attachment but need a bigger cup then that actually....

did u do a drilling yourself at the skim cup..?

definitely need a bigger container, but I think the tube n the distance to the current cup too far. afraid drip on yr new cabinet, dirty em. :(

you're right , I do need a bigger container though but the tube came with that length. I need to change it to a longer tube though... :D It's a minor drilling thing and I attached an elbow to it.

I suggest you dun use the drain tube, unless you use a bigger container then the skimmer cup, or DIY the tube to be insert into something like a 1.5l Coke bottle. (similar to doing a brineshrimp hatchery) This will ensure that the tube will not drip onto the floor or cabinet.

To seal up, just burnt one side of the tubing, and press hard to seal one end. The other end just attached to the skimmer cup. So the skimate will remain in the cup till you clean it, maybe once a week?

forgot to mention, using the tube will allow the skimmate to function non-stop.

Stopping the skimmer, to remove the cup for cleaning, you will have to give the skimmer a few hours to kick-start again.

Also for your case, your sump will stop 'functioning' untill your second compartment is full, then water flow to the third one.

In my own case, I use a tube to seal it. then drain the skimmate once in a while through the drain hole using a cup. :)
