I'm Back

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I've had a reef tank a couple of years ago, decomm for 4 years but now I'm back! Sorry, I have to seek help here as I'll be asking noobie questions (lol forgot a lot of stuff liao...)

Now, I've setup a new tank (RSM), thrown in the LR, chiller installed (CL450), and cycling the water for the 4th day....

I'd like to seek advice on the optimal temp to set so as to avoid lots of condensation on the tank glass...not nice leh...sorry, first time use chiller, last time no chiller.

Now it is set at 26 deg...

Thanks

Hi bro, welcome back. Since you are cycling your tank, i think seting 26 is overkill....maybe you can save some money but turning off your chiller till you have decided what livestock to keep in your tank. For Fish only, 28 to maybe 30(a bit risky). For coral, it depends on wat coral. All the best in your setup.

Thanks, will do that. Suppose in the longer term, I want to be able to keep most species of corals + fish, I had the impression that it has to be at least 26 deg, correct or not huh? If that's the case, then need to find other ways to minimise condensation liao...maybe got to look for "miracle super anti-fog" solution to clean the glass....haha

Btw, another question, I was thinking of putting in a Fluidise Reactor (FR)...I'm new to this thingy...anyone care to explain a bit to me?

ya. It takes time to familar with the functions and understand all the jargons, etc. Once you know the common equipment setup, it will be quite straight forward. In general, FR, you can put in charcoal or phospate remover media. To help reduce algae problem.

Bro, thanks for directing me there...too many threads here to read...blur...

Just a quick check, what are all those air bubbles stuck inside the sand bed? Is it a good thing to have? cycling the tank for almost 2 weeks liao.

Likely to be nitrogen bubbles due to the actions of denitrifying bacterias in the sandbed. This is a sign that the bacterias are at work!
