I've buffer wrongly that my KH is at 19 now. :o

it raised from 9 to 19.

How to reduce it, by changing water, or any other method? Also will it kill of my tank? :(

so far, all hammers, branch still opening, clam looks ok, mushroom are ok too.

No fishes in the tank.

Wow... that's very high! You may actually cause your calcium levels to go haywire.

But what's your current calcium levels first?

try adding calcium chloride. It will reduce your dkh. One product which contain it is Kent Marine Turbo Calcium.

my dkh got one time reach 20. ( salifert test max out at 16 (i think) but haven't change color but i estimated ). But no inhabitants was kill. I think extreme high dkh seems to slow down the growth of corals but will not kill any fish/corals but that my opinion only.

thanks for the link.

Didn't measure the Ca level.

will measure later. should I be expecting a high or low Ca level?

shall I continue to on my calcium reactor?

Adding Calcium chloride helps?

I'll try later.

What actually happened was that I usually just add sodium bicarbonate to the water to increase the KH.

but trying to take short cut, as I need to top up calcium also, I mix the sodium bicarbonate and calcium choride together then pour into the tank. then the KH shoot up!

In the first place, you should not add both at the same time. Try to add them on a alternate day. Since you have a calcium reactor, I don't see there is any need to add calcium unless your CA is under capacity.

IMO when dKH is high, calcium should be low.

I started with KH8, Calcium 340. so wanted to increase them.....

I've tune my Calcium Reactor to maintain the Ca level to matchoff the Ca usage, so need to use additives to increase the Calcium level to a suiitable level first.
