Is reef hobby harmful?

Juz curious, i am a newbie juz wanna ask whats the impact of our hobby on the marine life and ecosystem? Is it damaging to the marine life?

Buy aquacultured corals and not those harvest from the wild.

Its more expensive, but they are more hardy and beautiful.

I think the sponsors here sell mainly aquacultured corals.

Usually certain corals are aquacultured such as the SPS types(e.g. Montipora,Acropora,Poccilopora etc) and LPS isn't that much cause they usually grow damn large and needs good water quality so that they will start to split unless of course like those Euphyllia type or candycane coral cause these usually brach out to produce new buds.

Clams nowadays are also aqua cultured that's why it is cheap to get it nowadays(uhh Maxima clam still burns your pocket a lot cause they are beautiful even though they are aquacultured)

Eating seafood is also harmful. The shrimps being caught using drag net damaged reef structures that have evolve for a long time. The consumption of shark fins leave the population to dwindle in number. Learn how to lessen the impact on the reef before you enter this hobby. There are ways to do this and it will take some time.
