SRC Member hippo Posted November 26, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 26, 2003 Water parameter: Ammonia:0, Nitrie:0 Nirate:12.5mg/l (tetra testkit) I got 1 orangespotted goby. Found died after two days on the sandbed. It is the nitrate level too high? or fish wasn't acclimatize properly? (I.e. fish remained in the bag from LFS, soaked on the tank for 30mins. Light off. Mix tank water onto the bag, soak for a little while and let go to tank)

Sponsor Glare Posted November 26, 2003 Sponsor Share Posted November 26, 2003 fishes do die..maybe diff countries..diff environment..maybe cant adapt..not really good water parameters can guarantee their happiness..correct me if i'm wrong.. fishes will die due to shipping stress, new environment, etc, etc. So sometimes we can only do as much as we can to try to acclimatise them to our tank. Wat happens after that is sometimes a little hit and miss, like why some angels nip at clams but some dont. We can never tell even if the poor fish was already sick and was going to kick the bucket no matter wat we did.

I believe that acclimatization of fish/invert/coral is very important which shouldn't be neglected. Will take extra care next time.

SRC Member hippo Posted November 26, 2003 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 26, 2003 was it bullied by other fishes in the tank? No lah. The entire tank only got 1 fish and some snails only. Want goby to clean sandbed only. No time for fishes/coral yet. Going for vacation soon.
SRC Member blacknails Posted November 26, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted November 26, 2003 Hey... My condolences to your fish.. Your water conditions seem super good.. I think tje goby was just unable to adapt and too stressed.. You introduced him pretty ok so I think you did your best and the death was pretty inevitable lah.. So have fun in your vacation, k? SRC Member hippo Posted November 29, 2003 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 29, 2003 This time, I managed to acclimatized the goby fish. (i.e. This is 3rd time ) However, this fish messed up the sandbed, making it one side with more sand than the other. JTS
