I think that would depends on the species of the clam

Ive those 2 clams under 4x36w PL light (one been in my tank for 7 months, another just 1 month), so far so good.

Hmm.. cant affort MH?

how much does it cost you to DIY your 4x36 PL + 2x18 FL ?

CKS,

NIce clams you have there.....

I think its not the species but rather the colouration...

Clams that have greens, blues for their mantles tend to be found in shallower areas... require higher intensity and browns a little deeper... therefore lower intensity....

tigershark: i think u'll be able to DIY MH too with $250 or abit more

Rite, coloration is the word :)

thanks for the comments ppl

i got the bottom one shown in the pic from Aquamart 7 months

ago, the one with golden rim(corrent me if im wrong) from MarineLife.

Im using 2 Coralife 32w PL light (double the price of aqualux, but the 03 actinic looks better) and another 2 Aqualux PL light.

Got them from MarineLife too.

As an ex-PL user, I believe you can keep clams provided you max out the hood with as much PL as you can. I had 9 in my old tank.

And place them close to the water surface as possible, especially the brighter ones.

IMO, once I switched to MHs, I noticed an increase in colouration.

MHs rox!

it's a kind of processed seaweed found in NTUC ... cheap and good for your tangs basically ! :D
