Will this prematurely damage an Eheim 1260?

I will be using 2 eheim 1260s for my returns, thinking of turning one of them off at night and on again during lights on.

Will this cause premature failure of the Eheim pump?

In my personal opinon, I will think it will affect the life span of the pumps.. I was told that pumps can last longer if they are left to run ( except during maintainence when you need to switch the pumps off). What is the reason for on and off them so frequently? Saves electricity??

Saves electricity, cuts down on tank noise while i'm sleeping in the room, and also simulates night time conditions.
