Can i just dump it in the sump compartment? Or better to be run in a canister? Or any other methods? Thanks for the attention :thanks:

bro , u can use it with a filter sock and dump inside ur sump but it wont be as effective as a fr,

since fr can maximize ur contact with the media and since rowa is expensive better to use fr in order not to waste the rowa

fluidize reactor , its a canister with a pump to move the media inside and keep them tumbling, for ur tank i think a resun fr and get a 500lph pump should do the job already, then put in 500ml of rowa inside and wait then test water weekly for po4, anyway i think ur po4 should not be to high , i dun see a single stalk or dot of nuisance algae

Bro, instruction says dont wash and experienced reefers will tell you your tank will turn brown for days.....and you will need carbon, etc to clear them....hehe.

Used seawater to rinse them till they are not so brown. For me, the initial start will have lots of floating particles and it will go to your tank....what i did was to get a filter wool and place them at the open valve of the FR and let it filter for maybe a day.

I maybe wrong. Hope others can share their experiences and knowledge. Thanks.

when using rowaphos in FR, you need to rinse it by bringing your FR to a sink and use the hose pressure or pump pressure to clean the media with freshwater. you will see the water in the FR turn brown, run the freshwater until brown color clears away.

for those using rowaphos in a sock or bag in sump tank, usually do not need to wash the media.

pardon my ignorance....heard from some snr reefers that using fresh water to wash rowa might shorten its effective lifespan as the rowa will help to clear the po in the freshwater. Open to correction. Thanks.

I usually run the rowaphos in FR in a pail of sufficent distill/DI water to remove fine particles for 10-20 mins. Thereafter transfer to tank with the outlet of theFR connect to a small reservoir such as CO2 reactor for planted tank (cost $5) fill with wool to filter more fine particles. The purpose to use DI water is not to exhaust the resin.

ultraman, there is no hard and fast rule to it. different ppl has different ways of doing things. i personally didn't wash wash the rowaphos when put into my sump. recently, bought a FR and the instructions was per I've described in my earlier posts. its all about learning here. this is a good opportunity for you to contribute your findings?
