males i dunno. but u sure u din mix up semifasciatus with melanospilos? the females look very similar.

anyway it's always been rare in the states. i've never seen them everywhere here. only once. last year.

For the first time ever, 4 Cirrhilabrus marjorie made it to Singapore via LCK.

we should be happy that such rarities are finally entering our small market.

I got 1, digiman got 2, and LaW got 1.

Cirrhilabrus marjorie was founded in Fiji by Bruce Carlson (if i'm not wrong, his sur name is carlson). He thought that it was such a beautiful fish that he had to name it after his wife, Marj. Thus the species name marjorie.

It is a fijian endemic and found only in Fiji, in isolated parts.

Very rare and considered one of the Holy grails. I've waited far too long and finally obtained one.

Let's hope that more of these wrasses appear in the near future.

Lemon, the flasher wrasse posted are awesome looking, but the problem is all the species look too similar to each other and hence they are not as popular compared to cirrhilabrus. The hybrids of angulatus are most beautiful and look a lot like bell's flasher, but again they all look so similar for average hobbyists differentiate from the normal angulatus. Elight line flasher and attenuatus flasher are on the other hand quite unique and easy to distinguish. Well if there's a chance i hope to get P.Attenuatus.

Terryz, i hope to get a pair of majorie too, but too bad all are males this time. Let's hope next time there'll be a pair and the price will still be as good.

Ya i cant find it also, cant even find the one at CF, maybe next time go CF can check w auntie wat chromis is tat. Damn so common yet i cant id the fish. Believe it may some juvenile colours v different from adult on the net.

There are a total of 10 species in the genus Genicanthus aka swallowtail angels. the name comes from their extremely enmarginated tails which are deeply lunated. 4 of which are unobtainable.

the unobtainable ones are

- Genicanthus semicinctus (Found only on Lord Howe Island and kermadec islands)

- Genicanthus takeuchii (Found only in Chichi island in Ogasawara, and Marcus island)

- Genicanthus personatus (Found only in hawaii islands and midway atoll. It's obtainable if you are filthy rich)

- Genicanthus spinus (Found only in cook islands, pitcairn, and austral island)

These below are the 6 obtainable Genicanthus. In order of pictures,

G. semifasciatus, G. melanospilos, G. bellus, G. lamarck, G. caudovittatus and G. watanabei.

Pics here shown are all males. of all 6, semifasciatus and bellus are my favourite. this 2 are a MUST obtain for me.

simply amazing genus. this is my current obsession.

i MUST obtain the males of bellus and semifasciatus. bellus is freaking beautiful with two horizontal yellow lines. semifasciatus is just gorgeous with it's yellow mask.

I check already, nothing special, look exactly like those posted on the net so no point me taking pic and post. The fish is still sitting in my sump as my hungry chabanaudi may eat the fish. Tmr i've changed a bit of my schedule so hav time in the afternoon to go down LCK and collect the marjorie and get a snowflake partner for the thiellei.

Also seen the pulsing umbellata on youtube, not bad, open quite big and reli pulse v fast. But still a bit ex for such a small colony.

Anyway for those who dunno how a thiellei looks like:

You got a pair what... LOL>.. Just that both are male.. Hehe... Attenuatus, can be bought in by LFS who have africa shipment.. Which I dun think have much chance unless so lucky the lfs managed to secure a few... The last Harlequin shipment only less than 10 pcs if not wrong..

A. thiellei looks very similiar to A. leucokranos

The only way to differentiate between the two is the white saddle on top edge of tail base? And probably body colour?

Digiman, where did you buy your A. thiellei from? How much does it cost?
