According to article, the difference is in the colour, xmas more orange while hawaii more red. The barring is highly variable in xmas species, so using barrings as a gauge is not v accurate and definitely not convincing.

Never mind u can send your pic to Dr Tanaka, Copps and GB to see wat's their take on this.

ok.

i've sent the pic to john coppolino, Hiroyuki tanaka, eric michael and my thailand friend.

we'll see what they have to say.

i'll ask them if this is the true hawaii flame, and if not, how do i tell it from the xmas island variant?

to be honest i don't really care if it is the hawaiian one or not. i like it because it's very red and it makes a strong contrast with my other one with many bars.

so together it's very nice.

Red sea shipment in Japan:

Look at the number of butterflies.. Golden, heniochus, larvatus, mesoleucos.. and one butterfly is still missing! That is the pauscifasciatus. Has it become so rare tat even Japan is not getting them anymore!

The pics were taken from a Japan LFS.

We shall see how singapore LFS will distribute the butterflyfish when our red sea shipments arrive.

Yes maybe. Cos the website was in japanese and the pic was placed under the section of philippines shipment.

Since it does not look so rusty hybrid to me i assume it is a pure philippines flame.

But philippines flames i feel the gene pool has been tainted now, so slowly the flames and the rusty flames will resemble each other more and more and become hard to tell a pure flame from a rusty flame. Then eventually pure flame will be taken over and the whole population will be left with just rusty flame and become like Guam of which the same how Copps postulated the evolution and origination of Shepardi angels.
