Arothron stellatus (Bloch & Schneider 1801), the Starry Toado. Indo-Pacific, Red Sea, east coast of Africa.

Grows up to 4ft. The red coloration is only a juvenile color.

Always something more important than fish.

Hope the person who bought the puffer is prepared to change to a big tank after a while.

He's South African, so there's actually nothing to be proud or surprising for him to be obtain this fish. He stay in south africa, the only place in the world to be able to collect kingi legally!

can collect but cannot export right.

Yes cannot export. From SA forum they mentioned before. Occasionally their collector will catch the kingi and jux left in their holding facilities to die! They are deep water and rare so fetch a higher price but their own local reefers dun wan to pay high price for their local fish. Outside SA everyone wants the fish but the LFS cant export the fish out! Also the locals know the fish does not decompress well and does not feed easily so all the more they will not buy kingi. In the end the poor kingi will slowly wither away in high temp and poor captive condition at the LFS. So after a while collector no longer dive deeper to collect the fish as LFS do not want to buy the fish.

So sad, bandit and kingi are the same. However bandit is readily available for export hence look at the number of bandits caught and sold yearly. On the other hand kingi is as deep and as rare as bandit but becos it is not for export, it is not available to other parts of the world.

these two websites are fake.

kingi are not allowed for export as south africa bans them for export. so you can't buy them. and 1000 pieces is ridiculous. at most only 1-2 piece only!!

the mask angel is even more absurd. till now only less than 10 pieces have ever been caught and sold and each piece sold for more than $10k USD!!.

they are super rare deep water fishes from hawaii and one diver lost his life trying to catch them.
