SRC Member LaW Posted January 6, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted January 6, 2010 aberrant yellow tang (1k ) very very nice piece. 1k is still okay for this fella Quote If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless. Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. || Tank: 78" x 30" x 30" || Sump: 48" x 22" x 20" || Lights: PowerModule 10 X 80W|| Returns: 2 x HF32 || || Skimmer: BubbleKing Supermarin 300 || Wavemaker: 3 x 6100 & 1 x 6200, 2 x Wavebox 6212, WavySea || || FR: 2 x FR150 || NR: Sulphur Denitrator || CR: RM Custom Made 8" || KR: Deltec KM500 || TopUp: Tunze Osmolator 3155 || || UV: Coralife 12X 36W || Ozonizer: Sanders C200|| Controller: GHL Profilux Plus II Ex ||
Digiman
Juvi clarionxpasser, adult clarionxpasser, Ugly colored clarion The fact that clarion hybridized so easily and readily with passer producing hybrids of many ugly variants makes me lose interest in this fish. Digiman
It is a Powder Blue x Powder Black and Pure Powder Black... Too bad this scenario will not never have in our tank... Shouldn't it be powder brown because of the smaller white patch at the eye? Anyway i think it should be Powder Brown (A.Nigricans) and not Powder Black (A.Japonicus) because the pic belongs to a marine biologist who identified the fish as A.Nigricans. The difference is well explained here. Correct me if i'm wrong.
Senior Reefer yikai Posted January 8, 2010 Senior Reefer Share Posted January 8, 2010 A friend of mine has 7 of these in his tank now Ptereleotris grammica. extremely beautiful dorsal and ventral fins.... not to mention the colours. Rare i think as this is my first time seeing it. a much larger member of the dartfish family.

Rare i think as this is my first time seeing it. a much larger member of the fire fish family. Glad for your friend who got 7 at one go, they are best kept in large group. P.Grammica can be occasionally (well actually quite rare, only seen it twice so far) seen at Ah Beng but only one or two specimen each time. I've tried one and it's so scaredy and hide almost all the time under a rock because of many larger fishes, until it got so emaciated and died. Nice fish anyway. Digiman
never seen it before though. soo nice. They are long and slender, like tilefish. I currently has a Ptereleotris Uroditaenia (pic below) in my tank which i only see it's head out from the crevice during feeding. There are not popular fishes. Ah Beng side always carry a few varieties in the front tank with a lot of tilefishes and firefish, and they dun gather too much attention. Senior Reefer yikai Posted January 8, 2010 Senior Reefer Share Posted January 8, 2010 hmmm...i think it is Ptereleotris Uroditaenia instead of P.grammica.the tail is definately that of P.uroditaenia. anyway the dorsal fin is beautiful. one of the nicest. im not sure. forgot liao. only sawit briefly

Anyway they are called wormfish and here's a good article on them: Worm Fish

Haven seen a Japonicus x Leucosternon yet... Hmm ya right, actually both are called powder brown (or confusingly black) most of the time. But Japonicus definitely more brown colored than nigrican. Yes, using scientific names still the easiest. Even if got Japo x Leucos also hard to distinguish from nigri x leucos i guess.
