Told you it is nice... LOL... But there is actually two varient, one lighter yellow and one darker yellow..

mine has a dorsla fin that is entirely black from start to end leh.

why is that so?

all the photos i see online usually have very little black on the dorsal fin.

It might be the darker variant? The darker varient is more blue than yellow...

here's the link to the lemonpeel article i've written.

it's my favourite article i've written so far on a fish that i love so dearly. i hope anyone who reads it learn something interesting and appreciate the fish more! :)

there's a new thread on reefcentral discussing the availability of Chaetodon wiebeli.

i really like this butterflyfish and it's very common in thailand, japan and taiwan. but they are just not collected for the trade regularly enough. infact, most of these end up as by catch and sold in the local countryeither as food fish or as cheap by catch fish.

they seldom get exported out and are just not targeted for collection.

they are very common as can be seen in this swarm in japan. dr. tanaka who lives in miyazaki, occasionally see juveniles swimming near the surface of the harbor. easy to catch!

super.

colini angels can be found in cocos islands.

maybe we should request for the collector to include colini in the next joculator shipment.

I wouldnt mind but I think he dun collect them bah, if he does we will see some coming in..

V good price for such a rare fish!

The joculator collector does not collect other fish except for joculator. Only recently he started collecting and taking orders for the other fish, the cocos lemonpeel. Other than that he does not collect anything else. Reason being he is earning too much from joculators alone and is too pampered to collect other fishes.

Colini is more cryptic and deeper and as such harder to collect compared to joculator. Also we are receiving many and cheaper colini's from the philippines, although none that i know of has survived.

Just curious, is this little cutie reef safe ?

The tinker's butterflyfish belongs in the roaps subgenus which includes declivis, mitratus, burgess and flavocoronatus.

All are deepwater and fairly reef safe. I would say like flame Angels.

I have a declivis and a mitratus. No problems for me.
