Very nice Clarion. No doubt about the rarity of the clipperton in captivity but I just don't know how to appreciate it.

"Be formless... shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot; it becomes the teapot. Water can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend..." - Lei Siu Lung (Bruce Lee)

Yes no doubt clippertons are ugly, but I appreciate it not for it's beauty but for its story! It's so amazing everything else about it. Recently 42 were collected by famed

Clarion collector but the 42 clippertons were illegally got in and labeled as king angels. All 42 were confiscated and the guy is now going to jail.

In fact this piece here is a confiscated piece many may years back.

So interesting how the nature of the fish ties in so well with geography, law and so many aspects of life! That's why it's so interesting for me and makes it even more special!

But clipperton angels are not pretty as adults. Juveniles are verrrryyy nice

ridiculous!

the males outnumber the females if you see the picture of the whole row.

since when do genicanthus males outnumber the females in any shipment order? unless that is not the only photo they have

Lemon... i hate you!!! :cry2:

there's been quite a large number coming in to our countries but alot of them under the radar. i only manage to get 3 but i know some people here have gotten super nice big males.

but they are so unpredictable that even i don't know where or when they have appeared.

here's a very nice hawaiian flame angelfish from mainland hawaii.

contrary to many popular beliefs, flame angels are very rare from hawaii island itself. the ones we get from "hawaii' shipments come from nearby christmas and marshall islands, and get shipped to us from hawaii.

the mainland hawaiian flame angels are full blood red and not orangey-yellow like the others.

like this one.

And typically they have thinner and lesser black stripes.
