Hi, please help, my bubble tip anenome has shrivelled up and gone a browny/green colour when its usually red, it was fine this morning but seems to have deteriorated is it dying ??

If anybody has any advice please let me know

Thanks

Snap a pic to show how it look like. test yr water perimeter and if it is really dying, get rid from ur tank or else pollutes ur tank with toxic and may results in tank crash

Hi, ive taken him out of the tank just in case and added a pic it was very big yesterday and very red, this is it now

:thanks:post-15107-1218737703.jpg

Was it stuck to the rock when you took him out? If it was still sticking.. then you should have monitored for 24 hrs. Somtimes they will shrivel up and excrete "shit" brownish like substance to expel all the crap in their system. Mine did it before and I tot it was dead too. But it was still sticking to the rock so I left it alone and within 12 hrs it was back to its normal big self. Anyway, if its dead/dying, you will know from the stench it produces :)

Anemones tend to move around a tank and they will find a spot with the right current flow and sufficient lighting. Very unpredictable. If you're lucky they'll stay put from the first time when you introduce them to the tank. Some will just keep wandering and i've had one last time that set itself on a rock of zoas and completely wiped them out.

For your one in hiding. If you can reach it. Try feeding it a piece of prawn meat. If it continues to look ok and if it stays put just let it be. Their base at times can be all the way into your rocks and they can still stretch out to get the required lighting so don't worry too much.

It wasnt stickin at all and at doesnt smell yet, ive still got it in a bucket but it doesn't seem to have changed since last night

Try to have some lighting in the bucket and at least an air stone for oxygen..Yours looks stressed to me.

"Care and feeding of a captive anemone in a saltwater aquarium: anemones need blue light to live, much like their relatives the corals. They are not nearly as light-sensitive and will live in much poorer light, but they need that blue wavelength."

Well, next time when choosing an anemone from the shop, choose one that opens up nicely and looks healthy. dun get those tat closes up and dun look fluffy. Best to introduce ur anemone first before intro ur other crals., else cross wars between the corals and ur anemone and will results in more other coral casualty. Feeding of a small pcs of market prawn to the anemone will make the fellow more healthy and for growth too. As for the dying anemone, can throw away liao
