SRC Member kthc Posted August 9, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted August 9, 2008 How do you feed your bottom feeders? I used to put a plastic pipe and inject some brine/mysis shrimps into it so that the food will float to the bottom. Is there a better way or a better tool? SRC Member big_ben102000 Posted August 10, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted August 10, 2008 what kind of bottom feeders are you referring to ? if its starfishes and shrimps, they will pick up the scrapes or uneaten food. dont really have to purposely feed them. Eh corys, plecos... oops, wrong type of water  Thinking of keeping blennies and gobies and thought of giving them a fighting chance of getting some food before the 'swimmers' get them all. SRC Member kthc Posted August 10, 2008 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 10, 2008 Sinking pellets. Yup, pellets no issue, if they'll eat it only... I'll try dipping them in garlic next but currently, the 2 blennies I have haven't touch any yet. And my coral banded shrimp have been a very efficient scavenger, too efficient I think... SRC Member big_ben102000 Posted August 10, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted August 10, 2008 blenny will fight for food leh.. haha try getting them to feed first. once they get used to the surrounding they will swim up into the water column and fight for food haha... at least that was wat mine always do when i had a bicolour blenny. SRC Member Ah-lim Posted August 10, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted August 10, 2008 quarantine the blenny and all new fishes in a separate tank. Feed them with the food u wish to feed with. After 3 weeks, put them in.
SRC Member kthc Posted August 12, 2008 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 12, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions. Place is a little too small to have a quarantine tank. I'll use a betta tank (those floating type) and see what happens.
