Weipro Skimmer and tank cycling

Hi,

I need to confirm whether the weipro 2012 skimmer sufficent for the below tank specification.

main tank = 3.5ft x 2 x 2

sump tank = 32" x 15" x 18"

May I know which LFS sells weipro model skimmer at the cheaper price ?

Do i need to turn on the skimmer during the cycling process ?

many people recommend you not turning on your skimmer during the cycling process. this ensures that the bacteria waste are not destroyed by skimming, thereby giving your bacteria colony a chance to build up themselves. that is one school of thought that you can chose to follow

as to whether your skimmer can tahan the size of the tank, check for the complete capacity of tank and sump. add in the total literage, and then you go compare against the Weipro specification sheets.

as to where it is the cheapest. well. where else. Petmart. to me its the cheapest place. and besides if you're a member there, can collect precious points! (=

another thing is.

try to get a bigger skimmer. its always better to be slightly overpowered in terms of skimming.

this will cater to an increased bio load, should the need arise later on.

you might wan to cal the total capacity of your main tank + sump. It will give u a rought idea wat model will fit your requirement. I'll guess it will be at least 2013 if not 2014.
