Featherdusters, coco, x'mas tree worms are all plankton feeders. The larger ones eat tiny zooplankton as well.

Because not many people bother to feed live plankton to their tank, such polychaete worms seldom have a long life.

Hi AT

would sprayed dried phytoplankton be a good enuff subsitute? The description on it seems wonderful....

"The spray dried intact cells arent alive, but when rehydrated they are a microencapsulated source of color enhancing beta carotene and astaxanthin pigments, vitamins, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Ideal food for filter feeding inveterbrates, such as soft and stony corals, anemones, feather duster worms, clams, sponges and tunicates."

how true?

*Ideal food for filter feeding inveterbrates, such as soft and stony corals, anemones, feather duster worms, clams, sponges and tunicates.*

that's what they say on all the bottles of liquid foods.

the dried phyto would be a better choice than the other liquid food stuff(made from yeast/pea flower/egg yolk etc)- but still non-living so got to watch feeding amounts & water quality.

Once upon a time i fed marine liquidfry(upon recommendation of a LFS)& watched sponges die but sea squirts spread like the plague?didn't seem to benefit anemone, feather & coco worms either.- now i just keep lots of particulate in water column for the filter feeders.

the phyto will not only benefit filter feeders but also the fauna(worms/copepods/amphipods & lots of creepy crawlies)in your tank,in turn they breed & larvae create more zooplankton.

U will be able to see the increase of micro-life.
