Window films for tanks

Just came across my mind, has anyone tried using clear window films on our tanks?

Just like what we do to the car windows, it may reduce the heat introduced into the tank by sunlight.

Maybe it can be pasted on the glass of the MH too so reduced heat will be introduced into the tank? :)

in my opinion,it might not work as the film is usually stick on the internal part of the panel, meaning if it has to stick inside the tank...you have to apply soap water on the surface and stick over. Must not have any bubble. Not sure how resistent it can be to saltwater. Not sure if stick outside the tank, it will work or not...and also wat solution to make it stick.....maybe can do a small scale prototype..and inform us the outcome...hehe

Hmm...maybe someone has succeeded. Will wait for more comment.

Juz passing by....

Your statement may be true, if you look at glass tinting that is mounted on the outside, you are actually deflecting the lighting heat back into the tank, or retained the heat on the glass instead as in cars, right?

The common window film are both anti glare (limit light and trap heat in the glass) and anti UV (does nothing to heat and light), you can choose what percent of glare to block. It will be easier to apply the film to the window than the tank itself, this will trap the heat on the window.
