Only live rocks in sump?

Hellos bros, i've seen some fellow reefers putting only live rocks in the sump for filtration. Is this method effective? Do i need to put other filter medias as well? Thank you!

My cheatos are in my sump 1st compartment with my LR. This is also where my overflow runs in.

I'm using energy saving bulb, running 12 hrs on reverse cycle from main tank lights. Cheatos are quite hardy so I don't think you really need 24/7 lights.

What'd d purpose of putting in d cheatos? Where can i get them and how much is sufficient? Sorry what do u meant by reverse cycle fm main tank lights?Izzit main tank on, sump tank off and sump tank on, main tank off?

Cheato is to reduce nitrate and probably some phosphate.

There are forumers selling sometimes.

Amount depends on how big is your tank and sump. Difficult to guage...

Yes you are right on the reverse cycle on the lights. It is to minimise the heat generation to the tank(water) and the water temperature for the chiller to work on.
