Brown alage or diatoms...dunno what it is...

Hi guys, recently i experienced something that is real bad... brown alage... over my glass n sand... making my aquarium looks real dirty...

first time me hafing that...after like half a yr of marine n reef keeping...

i wan to clear up those brown stuff... but i dun wish to disturb my sand... how do i do that???

aniway, how to prevent them from regrowing again??? chemicals??? rowaphos??? contraphos???

hm... y do i experience such alage??? becoz of my poor water condition... or i stock up too quickly??? or becoz i top up water all the time..due to my high evaporation rate of my tank...

ur help is much appreciated .... to make a nicer...cleaner environment for corals n fishes... thanks!!!

Must be diatoms, part and parcel of the tank maturing process.. just do weekly water change. Eliminate phospate by adding Rowaphos etc. reduce feeding also. Can be overcome over a few weeks or even month

I performed fortnightly water change of 20%.

Added in a Protein Skimmer and control my feeding.

Now my diatom problem is reduced.
