the so called hawaii type is long nose one...the other type if i not wrong is actually yellow mimic tang.

the long nose one belongs to zebrasoma family, in the same family as brown and black tang.

more information on longnose yellow tang: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_Tang

the fake yellow tang which is from phil. is called yellow mimic tang.

they are mimic of lemonpeel angel.

from the Acanthurus family, same family as powder blue, convict tang.

more information here: http://www.freshmarine.com/yellow-mimic-tang.html

to know which is which...it's very simple. just look at their body shape.

mimic tang has the body shape of powderblue and long nose has the shape of brown and black tang.

if still cannot diff., just look at the nose...

:D

I think he meant the Hawaii Yellow Tang and the Philipine (also found in some other regions) Yellow Tang.

They look pretty similar except for the intensity of colour. Hawaii generally have better Yellow colouration. I find the dorsal fins are generally shorter also.. maybe I'm wrong on this.. maybe they are just juvenile.

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?
