Hi there,

seems to be Pilumnus sp. or Teddy bear crab. it feeds on hairy algae such as Bryopsis and possibly Turtle weed (Chlorodesmis fastigiata). And thus is a wonderful grazer to have. Only issue is that i might grow too big for pico and nano tanks.

Cheers.

erms i am not sure but it has been an enemies to me all along. My cleaner shrimp, narius snails are gone and i suspect those crabs hiding the rocks are the culprits....one of my YT's eyes is gone overnight. I cant think of other fishes that can do this except crabs....not sure abt others though....but one thing for sure..they will eat meat cause i try to catch them with it...

Even if they might be omnivorous, for a crab like this to take a fish's eye.. it must sure swim hell of a fast! and you can tell that these guys are not swimmers simply by looking at their legs.. no paddles, curved ends for holding onto rocks.

Even if the fish was asleep.. i think chances of Pilumnus catching the fish is v v v slim.. check ur water quality mate..

u mean the water quality could cause the fish's eye to disappear while other fishes has no problem? i could see my clean shrimps empty shell and its disappearance forever. It's the water quality problem? the hairy crab i got is much bigger then the pic....
