Food for new fishes

Recommended Posts

Hi Bro, maybe you can try getting live brine/mysis, use prawn meat mixed with cylopeeze, or get Henry's goumet to try out. One of the reason to quarantine new fishes before releasing into main tank is to understand and train them to take whatever food given. If it is released into the main tank, the new fish will have to pick and learn from other senior fishes. Maybe your fish is still aclimatising, hence no eating Just try giving variety food and monitor. Maybe you can buy some red bamboo and house them in the tank. They might nimble abit to ease their hunger. All the best. : )

Bros, what is the best food to start new fishes on? My new tang refuses to eat frozen brine/mysis and pellets <_<

Thanks!

For sea weed, i find the easiest way is to buy chopped unseasoned version.

So ya can juz mix with pellets and throw in, cleaner this way.

Used to stick it to the magnet cleaner, but the nori juz fly here and there, messy.

hmmm....it look like straw but red in colour....usually sell with them attached to the rock. For me, i will rinse it either with tap or saltwater. For the rock, i will dip it for few minutes in tap water to kill off parasite. Then i just dump it into my tank. Think should be able to last for weeks. For the seaweed, LFS does sell the clip or hanger but comes with a price. : )

hahaha..dried nori can be found in ntuc, shop n save or any mart. daiso also carries them but u can get it from any place near u, dun need to go to daiso.cold storage and those chinese herbal shop also have them. just tell them u need a package of seaweed.

it should be found in the section with all the dried food. those red beans, green beans, fish maw section...it is packed sometimes in sheets or as a big circular roll.

as long as u get check the label and it says unseasoned or if u get it in that section, u will get it right. :)

dun go to the sweets and japanese food section..most of the time they are seasoned.

the most u taste it before u feed your fishes lor..haha..it should be bland.

anyway what tang is that ? haha..seems like nobody ask.

for new tangs, it will be good to keep trying new food until it feeds

so if seaweed cannot, then try red algae, or other frozen food. they will take sometime before accepting dried food. and if it's not feeding still, it could be health problem or water parameters.

cheers :)

i'm not sure about those from market as they tend to be use for soup which will disslove into small pieces once you soak in water.

been using the maki seaweed sheet from daiso, soak overnight in seachem garlic extract and add in some selcon or vit C. so far so good.

get a clip with a plastic sheet with holes in front so the sea weed will not "fly" around inside the tank as well as to cultivate the natural nibbling behaviour of tangs as they will nib into the plastic sheet holes.
