Bare bottom. Anyone?

Running a barebottom with replica rocks. This combined with wavemakers will cause the replica rock structures to 'slide' away, therefore need a couple of live rocks to weigh it down, and also to seed the replica rocks. Because detritus is only produced on the live rocks, detritus produced becomes much lesser.

Just came upon this thread that interest me.

I find it difficult to siphon out those detritus on my bare-bottom FOWLR even during water change. Does anyone knows if an additional underflow design in the tank will help to extract these unsightly stuff?

P.S. I noticed many fresh water tanks have both overflow & underflow design.

Place a wavemaker at the bottom and blow the detritus towards one direction and then you siphon out from there?

Bro underwater is correct, juz aim the wavemaker at the bottom, then u will see the detritus gather at one corner.

Me rather lazy to siphon at times, heheheheeeeee.

Thanks bros. Will give it a try.

haha depends on the type of scaping, can see that all the dirt are gathered in two areas haha. u can try experimenting by adding a powerhead and see it the dirt will settle at the corner of the tank. you got large caves making it easier to work with, can play with the water current

my scaping was quite different from yours. the base of my rock work is dense (very little gap) made up of big rocks, so quite unreachable. even if i add a powerhead, the dirt will just get blown into another crack or hole some where..... i could only clear particles that settle outside.
