Upgrade canister to sump tank

Recommended Posts

i going to change my 2 mths old tank from using canister to sump tank. my current is using grade 0 sand abt 1inch.

1) For my new tank can add in grade 1 sand with my grade 0 sand?

2) my main & sump tank is 2x1x1.5 ft so i not sure what kind of return pump to use, can anyone advise?

I ask a similiar question before but it is for a 4 ft tank.

I think it will be easier for the expert to answer if you tell what is the distance between the sump and tank. That is, how many feet the water has to be pumped up to your main tank.

Also provide information about the gallons per hour that you hope to achieve.

you do not need to get additional pump.. just lvl your two tank and use a tube which u can get from some LFS... the one at balestier sells it. and then use the canister to draw water from the main tank to the sump and then use the tube to return the water back to the sump. although it will not look very nice. but it's possible.. i own a 3.5ft main tank... then it does not have overflow system..so i use my 2ft sump on the side.. lvl with my main tank... the way i place.. looks quite alright... too bad no photo yet... my cam cable not with me.. maybe next week will update my tank photo.... cheers
