I had these red anemone for about 4 months. A few days ago it shifted from its favourite place. Today i realise i had 2 red anemone.

Can anyone advise me, is it common for anemone to split ?

Any particular reason for such happening ?

Just Curious! :o

Congrats! The rose anemone will split/clone itself due to a few reasons:

1. Stress (yes, stress! Can be due to low oxygen, high temps, high pollution), water change or change in water parameters.

2. Natural growth (heavy feedings)

I like rose anemones but I can't trust them enough to stay put and not sting my corals.

I saw the splitting of the anemone on TV in NGC. It is pretty interesting as they sped up the 2-3 hour process into a few tens seconds. From the narrator, the splitting normally ends up with 2 identical anemones. Never thought that it is possible in a tank...

There is a way to propagate a rose BTA... frag it. It takes guts however... u take a very sharp razor blade and slice it in half.... both halves will recover and voila.. two rose BTA.

*Gasp* !!!

Never knew that can be done!

Maybe one of these days I will try on one of my other anemones.

Not too sure about other species of anemones.... ;)

*disclaimer: I am not responsible for any consequences arising from such actions*

Hee hee...

Or maybe I can convince the boss of topic marine to frag his luminous pink anemone in his display tank...

What do you guys/gals think?

Maybe he can put his rose anemone into his well-advertised 5 day cycled tank*.... the stress may cause his RBTA to split... or then again... maybe not! ;)

*Someone tell me he is still not telling newbies this!
