My 'fishing' started around September 2007 from 1 freshwater tank to now... 3 freshwater and 2 marine tank.

I started playing with marine about 2 months ago.. and the first experience was 'expensive'... almost everything down the drain.. and my apology to the DEAD.

This is how it first begins... 2 hermit crab.. few clown.. and a anemone...

Added starfish, more clown, turbo snail, purple snug... wavemaker and more LR. aglae starts to grow and multiply very fast after a week...

After a month of struggle with the 1feet JBJ nano tank.. (everything gone, except turbo snail and hermit crab)... went to buy a 2feet nano tank and the diamond reef from Jireh.... it was not cheap for this investment.. but so far, after more than one month... only the white and yellow anemone died.... at least the rest of the residents are healthy (looked healthy)... Now the residents are 3 anemones, 1 clam, 2 cleaners, 1 regal angel, 1 yellow tang, 1 maroon clown, 8 clown, 4 turbo snails, 1 star....

Hi, just a suggestion. Plz read more and learn more before you buy any new life and keep the existing one healthy. Animals are so pity to die in the hand of their inexperience owner. No offense but just a suggestion...!

Firstly be careful of those anemone. They died = tank crush.

small tank with over-stocking is a disaster.

Maroon clown and normal clown will fight to death in small tank like yours.

8 clowns will also fight each other.

Angel fishes need big tank to live healthy.

So many things to point out after i saw your tank and stressed. Good luck!

i hate to burst your bubble but yeah, your tank is way too small to house so big fishes, will only kill them in a matter of days.. and its waste money too, just wanna advice, for your tank size, try buying smaller fishes...

Added a moonlight so that when the mainlights are off... the tank will still have the bluelight effect.... (actually... trying out to see whether it helps on the livestock and at the same time, see what is happening during the night for myself... hehe...

Oh.. regarding the 8 clowns and the maroon... you are correct... the maroon always hunt the other clowns... now left only 6.... i try to move the smaller clown to the smaller tank with less fishes... but they are always hiding....

Now i monitor them very closely when i am at home... still moving things around between the 2 tanks..... hope to get everything stablise soon.. so that i dont have to disturb them with my hands...

Hi BravoB,

1. Your angels will peck on corals. In fact all angels and butterflies will eat corals, except flame angel which is 50% chance of eating corals too.

2. Your goby that died is most probably died by heart attack because cleaner shrimps do not hunt for prey, they are scavengers.

3. Your tank is too small to house angel fish.

4. Maroon clowns are territorial and will bully other clown species, maroon clown will not bully tangs.

5. Your anemone that died issit due to temperature above 29 degree celcius?

6. What is your salinity, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

7. What is your temperature range? Considering we are having a hot period now all the way till september it will just keep getting hotter. You might want to employ a DC fan or a chiller.

8. How long is your lighting period?

I try my best to give you advise.

Cheers,

bgrking

wow... 2 super crowded nano tanks... bro seriously should read up more on the basics first.. if not all these money spent on the LFs will go down the drain.. fingers crossed for you

just some thoughts

1. firstly i think u need to properly cycle your tank before adding so much bioload... same concept in freshwater tank, let the bacterias grow first so can convert all the ammonia into nitrite into nitrate

2. read up on equipments... lightings for corals, skimmers, bio filtration, etc..

3. research more about the fish b4 you buy... like their dietary requirement, space requirement, ,etc... dun just take every word that the fish shop says..

things to watch out for... tangs and angels needs lots of place to move about put 2 big tangs in a small 2 ft tank, i guess they're pretty stressed and most likely territorial. chasing each other like mad right? stressed tang leads to ich (parasite) out break.. watch out for the blue tang.. will probably show it first. ich spreads like wildfire and its hard to control in nano environments... so then lets hope the tank won't crash then....

watch out for your fire gobies... .i love these guys.. v beautiful.. but they like to jump out of the tank. esp when its so crowded... kena chase by the tang or angel or maroon clown and watch it shoot out of the tank.....

maroon is gonna pawn the common clowns... no questions asked. u might want to give the maroon clown or baby clowns away. or separate them in 2 different tanks.

clams need lots of light.. what lighting are u using? your's look like it lost its original color and became brown (need more algae in its mantle to make food because insufficient light)

just browse the forum and i'm sure you'll learn alot... good luck

thank you people.. just want to answer the doubts...

I am using t5 in the two feet... using big fan to chill.. temp between 25 to 28.. measurements tested ok.

my tang and angel don't fight...

only the angel keep biting the clam.. so I move to nano tank.

using skimmer to clear the dirt... using reefall products only....
