Feeding Prata

Recommended Posts

i feed all my corals with pellets becos prawn meat very easily taken by shrimps.

u can try that.

Hi Victor007, you means those type forzen shirmps or red worms pellets? just throw inside the tank so fishes and corals will somehow eat it? need not manually feed right?

i manually put it to their mouth becos i dun wan to dirty the tank by flooding.

i just use the same dry pellet which i feed my fishes to feed the corals. it can be ocean nurtri or life spectrum.

these two brands more reliable.

and i put directly to prate and cyna's mouth then they will lump the pellets together and eat.

if u use shrimp u can must beware if u have bigger fishes, just in case they drag the whole piece away.

i use pellets becos if the shrimp or fish snap the food, they will peck each individual pellet so no need to worry abt food being taken away as there will always be leftover.

maybe u can try brineshrimp or mysis shrimp cube too, i believe a few reefers do that.

if the cube is too big, cut into half then use a tong to place it to their mouth.

it's up to individual's preference, just keep trying and use the method u most preferred.no right or wrong.

my 2cents.

:D Cheers.

Thank you guys for your advice and useful information. Just now i tried feeding the Prata with pallets (sinking type). Seem not easy task because the wave will remove the food from the Prata mouth. I will try to adjust the wave direction.

turn off the wavemaker really make my feeding easier.

i tried feed Prata & elephant ear with prawn meat,

seem they love it :)

hahaha...forget to add in this part. turn of ur wavemaker during feeding.

this applies to all corals...be it sun corals, or prata or even mushie..

after they devour all ur food, then turn it back on.

prata and lps are not that hard to keep provided with good water quality even that some say it needs abit of nutrients in the water.

btw, they do feed in nature not just that ppl tot they just need sunlight.

normally they will eat so-called marine snow which are like the debris from the top.

Most corals get carbohydrate through sunlight and get proteins from the water.

From the water in nature, it's normally marinesnow and planktons but we dun have them in our water.

so feeding them will help them to grow faster too.

but make sure it's small enough or else u will hurt them.

even without targetfeeding, they will still grow slowly when u feed ur fishes as they are constantly filtering ur water with their tentacles.

Cheers :D

right now i am feeding prata with liquid food. is it better if i feed them with small piece of prawn? doesn't it help in growing or just liquid food will do? thank you guys for your help.

IMO, Market prawn is the best. It will grow into very big in a short time.
