I'll suggest getting 2 or 3 skunk cleaners instead of the CBS. CBS are quite finicky and won't always clean. Smaller fish won't like the CBS too.

i also think it's a better idea to add cleaner shrimps.

cleaner shrimps you can add a few but CBS can only add 1 or 2(if they are matched pair)

cleaner shrimps is much much more hardworking than CBS!

cleaner shrimps won't attack other things in the tank but CBS does!

one thing to consider is that cleaner shrimps is around 3 times more expensive than CBS.

Tanzy, are there any differences between skunk cleaners and cleaners? Its just the red one with the white stripe right?

This CS does not eat algae right? Anyone has any recommendations to get rid of furry looking green hair algae?

My CBS is quite docile now, after getting into a fight with my angel  and having his claws ripped out. But they all grew back when he molted and it has learnt his lesson now not to be hostile. :D

The skunk cleaner(white stripe) is Lysmata amboinensis and the blood shrimp is L. debelius. I think their behavior is quite similar, although, the skunk cleaner is more bold and active. They don't eat algae but will eat food the fish miss.

eprouve- get 2 snails, they will stop new growth(& they do it at nite). A tang will wipe out old growth in a matter of days- then u end up with a fish u need to provide for.

If u have a tang on your list then its a good time now- otherwise a good scraping & a little elbow grease needed to remove manually.

On the plus side, it does lock up unwanted nutrients so u can harvest weekly.

anakjoh- nothing will stop the CBS bully, if u add another CBS, either they will pair or fight to the death, if u add another CS- then CS will pair but still be bullied by CBS.

Creetin- your choice on what u want. which u prefer to view? CBS & CS can be mixed but CBS will be the big bully. CS & blood shrimps can be mixed, less bickering. CS & CS and u get a pair-added together or at diff times(just make sure ard same size).

I think Eprouve only has a 2 ft, if I'm not wrong...

well, can always get a small one..... and when's it too large for your reef, call me .... will always be glad to release you from the burden...

Hint hint... I already have a sailfin.... and prefer a yellow... but if you are way generous, a purple will be good.....:P:P:P

clarence, i recommend going for the snails.. u dun have to feed it and it get the job done.. and it is only a fraction of the cost of a tang.. unless, like what bawater had mentioned, u have a tang, then get a small one.. but not forgetting that tangs do grow till very big.

Hmmm... snail? Never these on sale. Where can I get it?

Phang, I would love to get a tang... but it will be very soon when I have to hand it over to you right? On the serious note, my tank is too small and I think another fish is way too risky. I don't think it'll be too healthy for the tang. Or the oter fish already in my tank.

If you add the 2 cleaners, the CBS will make shrimp paste out of them.

damn!!!!

its about 6-7cm long?

and what!?

i cannot add CS?

when u all said that CBS will bully u guys ment KILL!?

when we say CBS bully CS, we do mean KILL!

for example, my tank started out with 2 matched CBS, 3 CS and 1 blood shrimp.

now only left the pair of CBS and the blood shrimp. the blood shrimp hides most of the time. you figure what happened to my 3 CS! hheheeh

was i ripped off btw?

and now i want to get rid of the CBS!

how?

will the shop take it back?

and its gonna be tough catching it right?

where u bought the CBS?

actually if your tank is big enough or got enough hiding space, the danger is not that great.

from what i see, CS is a better swimmer than CBS, so escape easy.

my CS got 'bully' when they just molt!

CBS is quite easy to catch i think, all depends the landscape of your tank.

2 feet tank? No chance to hide. The cleaners like to come out while the blood shrimp tend to hide. If the CBS is there, sparks or shells will surely fly.
