Hi bro,

Welcome to the hobby!

Like all beginners you made the mistake of setting up and stocking up before researching on what is needed. :pinch: But you made the right decision by joining a forum and asking questions. Below are my brief opinions:

1) Anemones are animals, they chose which surface their foot holds on to. Different species of anemones prefer different surfaces (Some prefers sand while other prefers LR). By the way, anemones are not really reccomended for beginner due to their demand for quality water and high output light source.

2) For a 2 feet tank, you can check out some of the reefers nano tank to get an idea of the type and quantity of fishes you can keep.

3) Snails and hermits comes in various depending on what species you have acquired. If you have selected the large species than it will be deterimental to you set up.

I suggest you research around, ask as many questions as you need before deciding what to do next. As for the anemone, I suggest you pass it on to someone who have the ability to look after for you while you spruce up your system.

HTH ;)

hi, welcome..

firstly you should check your water parameters to make sure nothing is too high, such as ammonia and nitrite so that means ur tank is safe to put livestocks..

more info such as lighting would help.. anemone requires high light, and good water..

beware though, if water conditions are bad, they will start to die off in a few days time, and will foul up your water pretty badly..

if ur rocks has unwanted crabs, can set up traps to catch it at night.. or alternatively, purchase cured liverocks.. which save up alot of trouble..

this forum is very useful, do keep us updated.. cheers and good luck.. :)

erm firstly thanks for the advice both really appriciate :D erm anyway how to set traps for unwanted crabs? some easy traps that is home made would be the best. thanks.

The mineral water bottle method? Didn't work for me, but has been reported with varying degrees of success.

Cut open a mineral water bottle method, use the bottom of the bottle and place a bit of bait (market prawn) in it. lean it against the live rock where the crab resides. Preferably at night. The crab, if tempted, should try and get the prawn, slide down the side of the water bottle and be unable to climb out again...
