Fish compatibility

Hi sis & bros,

I'm planning to add more livestock to my tank, but need to find out more about fish compatibility before I make any purchase. My current tank size is 1.5 x 1.5 x 1 Ft. The livestock that I have right now are as follows:

1. False perc clownfish x 1 (approx. 1")

2. Flame goby x 1 (approx. 2")

3. Yashia shrimp goby x 1 (approx. 1")

4. Cleaner shrimp x 2 (approx. 1.5" to 2")

5. Blue legged hermit crabs x 2 (approx. 1")

The fishes that I'm interested to get are firefish (maybe a pair, will it fight with the flame goby?), Royal gramma (izzit as territorial as the bi-colour dottyback?), a baby blue tang (I'll sell it or give it away if it gets too big for my tank), yellow tail blue damsel (its a risk, but the intense colours are very attractive and hard to resist), and another false perc clownfish to pair up with my existing one.

It will be wonderful if I can get all of them, but I do not want to overstock and crash my tank. Based on your experiences, pls advice on their compatibility with my current livestock? Really appreciate your help. :thanks: in advance!

This might help.

from my experiences with flame and fire gobies.. they will fight if not a pair.. purple will fight with flame as well..

i wouldn't recommend damsels because they will most probably scare your flame gobies till they jump out of the water..

adding another tang to your nano tank will be very high risk, as it already seems overstocked now.. just my two cents.. hope it helps.. :)

Thank you, bro sapp and bro snowman!

Extracted from liveaquaria:

...In the wild, Firefish Gobies are usually found in groups hovering over the reef, harvesting planktonic food that drifts by in the current...

...It is generally not aggressive towards other fish except those of its own species; a mated pair can live peacefully...

Bah... and I thought I could have best of both worlds. <_<

Anyone can comment on Royal Grammas' behaviour in a reef tank?

in my honest opinion, your 1.5ft is aleady reasonably stocked, maybe just one more fish - not the blue tang as the blue tang grows very fast.

Yes, I agree. Won't be getting the blue tang. Now my focus is on Royal gramma, so if anyone has experience with keeping it, pls share your views on its agression towards other tank mates.

it might have problem with ur dottyback. and its a rather peaceful fish but when fish get close to its favorite spot, it will then be more aggressive.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
