My sump is like that too. But you cant really break them off and expect them to live. Their tubes are built into the glass wall.

Reminds me of the many mini-fanworms that come out from my liverock..wonder if they are the same..luckily they never migrate onto my glass.

they actually invaded my previous sump .... after changing to a new sump ... can see some established themselves in the new sump already!!
