How is the bioload like cos if low bioload, the skimming will be less...

Check the PH too.. the PH should be at ~8.3 cos less alkaline, means less "soapy">>less bubbles...

Any other opinions from the expert out there?

the bioload is quite minimal though..

could it be sponge? Whe my friend put the new sponge in it skim but after sometimes it don skim..

what about water level? is the water level that flactuat within a cm will affect the performance too?

I encountered a similar problem previously, when i tried to run a skimmer with normal impeller pump when actually it needs a NW pump.

Is that the same problem as your friend's?

wats the tank size ? If the skimmer is oversize and bioload is not heavy, there will be less skimming and it will only kick in on n off.

is a 4ft tank..

with sand and artificial rock..

few pieces of cure lr in the sump..

could it be over size? at the moment as only 4fishes at the moment?

cause the skimmer actually very well when it first introduce for the first few days..

buy now it skim on and off..

I would say the skimmer is alight, jus tat u got artificial rocks and only 4 fishes at the moment. Therefore, less skimming. feeding also quite minimum right ? Less feed = less poo from fishes.

U mention tat it skimmes quite well in the first few days. Was there thick skim mate ? probably water too clean as for now and ur skimmer got nothing much to skim lor :whistle
