Pain to change water ( New Setup as well) + Sump tank query

Hi, total Newbie here.

1.Can anybody guide me to describe how the sump tank works? ( what is it for? how the water flow system works? etc)

2.How should I change the water if I got a big tank, 4-5 feet etc. It seems the conventional way of buying a long tube to connect the pipe to the tank is no long valid since we need to use the salt water.

you can either change with the help from the natural sea water supplier or mix ur own with a fairly big containter. with that size, 150 ~ 200liter ones will be good enough for one change.

hi all thanks for the reply. Another question is how to transport the water from the 'big' container that I have to the sump after (reading the links) Currently I only use bucket to scope the water from the container to the sump. Is there some equipment that can ease the work? Thanks.

You might want to consider using submersible pumps, or inline pumps to get the water to the sump.

How should I change the water weekly? i.e. Is it right to use a tube to remove the water from the tank itself and not from the sump right?

^ u can remove water from the tank, use the chance to siphon out any collected debris or detritus..

SPS is Small Polyped Stony coral wheras LPS means Large polyped stony corals.

Examples of SPS are acropora,montipora,seriatopra and poccilopora.The usuals u see in this hobby are acro and monti.(shortforms for acropora and montipora.

Acropora.This is staghorn type and diff species than another photo.

Another acro.This is cluster type.

Examples of LPS.This is favia aka brain coral

i see ..those LPS are nice corals and can i assume most of the aquascape put them on the bottom whereas SPS can be put up higher in the tank?
