The Sea Otter (Enhydra lutris) is the heaviest of the otters, reaching a maximum weight of 45 kg.

This a artificial Salmon Ladder......Its to let the Salmon jump upstream like they do in rivers to their head stream spawning grounds.

There were no Salmon in the ladder because it was mid-winter but I can imagine what an interesting sight it would have been to see the 25kg to 75kg Salmon leap upstream.

River Otters live on rivers, lakes and estuaries but often spend time in the marine waters of Puget Sound.
