nwyk153
On Monday, 21st Jan, the PUB guys is shutting the power supply off from 8am to 5pm at my block . No idea what they're doing. Some renovating or rewiring i think. I have no generator to back up my system. Do you think a battery operated air pump will do a good job for providing enough air and circulation for my 3 footer(50 Gal) for 9 hours??? I do not want to loose all my fishy!!! Achilles Tang
Yes, that would do. Maybe even having 2 depending on the size of your tank. Get a good bubble diffuser so you can get a lot of fine bubbles to better oxygenate the water. If you have the time maybe get a UPS unit to run a powerhead to maintain circulation. SRC Member sotongnabe Posted January 18, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted January 18, 2008 Hi Bro AT is right. UPS can be purchase in Funan (challenger) APC model about 100+. Use with Tuzune pump can last more then 9 hours.
SRC Member LaW Posted January 18, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted January 18, 2008 air stones can do the job, but wood ones create even finer bubbles. dun risk it, get the respectable brand wooden ones instead. all the best, hope you wont lose anything. but i bet if you prepare well enough, you surely can pull through this without any sweat. jiayou! Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. Achilles Tang
Before you go and buy the wrong kind of UPS, do a search here in SRC... i think there are some differences in UPS units and there are some recommendations from reefers here on which to get. achillies
Can try your luck by telling them that you got marine tank and cannot survive that long. My mum did that for her parrot fishes. the contractor actually got an extension wire into the unit but she needed to use her own extension. But not sure my bro got asked for approval in advance or not. good luck.
