anyway? in the top up container. stagnant water mah. serangoon area a lot of aedes mosquito, got dengue once recently. and they keep coming to my area, those inspectors

I doubt you can put oil, or freshwater fish to go makan the the larvae.

I use a big water canister with cover and one airhose for water out plus one for air in (with valve). Nothing gets in here !

my autotop up is airtight.... less the tubes coming in and out.. so shouldn't be a problem at all

cover it and add kalkwasser which will serve as ur buffer.. for water evapouration ..

i dont think mosquito would breed in water with ph of 12 ...

err....if the top up container is open and it is fresh water. what about keeping goldfish in it. afterall, goldfish eats almost anything...

goldfishes or any other fish kept in the fresh water reservoir may not do any good to the tank topup itself. you'll never know what disease they develop and all...and whether it can jump the freshwater/saltwater barrier.

secondly. imagine the amount of ammonia released through their waste which they produce. you're indirectly injecting a fresh source of ammonia to the main tank everytime the water drips into the main tank.

if i have kalk ph 12 no need to worry

if no kalk then put airstone.

If you use airstones, you will need a top-up container for your top-up container! Why not use infraed sound to ward off them? There are electronic non-chemical mosquito repellers available commercially. If you wan to be eco-friendly (greeny), take up a new lizard-rearing hobby!
